The iPod Shuffle is the smallest amongst the different digital audio players manufactured and distributed by Apple Inc. It is currently in its third generation, which only weighs .38 ounces or 10.7 grams. It is available in different kinds of attractive colors including pink, blue, orange, green and silver. To make the most out of its super cool features, here is a beginner’s guide to using the Shuffle.
How to Charge
Before you can use this product, you need to charge it first. Each pack comes with a USB cable. Attach one end of it to the earphone jack of the iPod Shuffle, while connecting the other end to your computer. Turn off your iPod. Check the status light to determine whether charging is still necessary. If you can see an orange light glowing, it means that the device is still charging. Once it turns green, it means that the device is fully charged. In case there is no light, check the connection once again to see if it is tightly in place.
You can always leave your iPod connected to the computer while it is still charging. During the initial charging of this device, it usually needs three hours to complete. While charging, you can open the iTunes application on your computer. The application can easily detect the iPod including its contents. You can conveniently add or remove songs from your iPod even though it is still charging. A simple drag and drop will do the trick. At the same time, you can also create special playlists for your convenience later on.
How to Disconnect
Never remove the iPod from the computer right away. It must be disconnected properly in order to protect the files as well as the device from any possible damage. Always check its status right at the iTunes panel. Never take the plug off while the iPod is synching. Take it off only after clicking the eject button. Once ejected, remove the USB from your computer and from the audio player. Do not take the USB for granted for it is a very important tool for charging as well as personalizing your iPod.
How to Play Tracks
You need a good set of earphones to get the best sound quality from your iPod Shuffle. Connect the earphones to the same jack that was used for the USB cable. Turn your Shuffle on and then press ‘Play,’ which is located at the middle part of the control button. You can manipulate volume levels by pressing either the ‘-‘ or ‘+’ buttons. You can also pause and resume songs whenever you like. In case you want to turn off your iPod, simply press the ‘Off’ button.
