How to Grow Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has numerous uses. It serves as herbal medicine to heal various kinds of diseases such as ulcerative colitis. In addition, it also fights well against fungal and bacterial infections. Furthermore, various kinds of studies prove its efficiency against irritable bowel syndrome and even heartburn. People can use them as ornamental decorations, which can make houses and other architectural structures look livelier than usual.

Materials Needed

To accomplish this simple task, people need to gather a few simple materials. These include a mixture of ¼-rock and ¾-dirt, potting soil and clay pot. More importantly, it also needs aloe vera stem cutting measuring at least four to six inches.

Steps

Get the clay pot. Fill half of it with the rock and dirt mixture, while the other half must be comprised of potting soil. Dig at least an inch or two and then position the cutting right at the middle of the clay pot. As an alternative, people can also use a plant/root start. When choosing the latter option, make sure to bury the roots deep within the soil together with at least an inch of the plant.

Press the surrounding soil at the lower part of the plant. Ensure that the plant is founded on the soil properly. If the pot is not yet full, add more soil. In order to produce a healthier aloe vera, be sure to water the plant every day. Meanwhile, the plant may need a little more extra water during hot weather. Moreover, do not let the plant stand for longer period under direct sunlight. On the other hand, places with colder weather require plants to have more sun exposure.

Additional Tips

It is very important to provide the aloe vera ample amount of sunlight especially in places where the weather is so cold. Meanwhile, it is also important for the plant not to stand too long under direct sunlight, particularly in areas with hot weather. Letting them stay for so long under the sun can burn them dry. It is also very important not to water it regularly. Do not flood the pot as too much water may have some negative effects on the plant. Failure to follow these easy-to-follow and simple tips can significantly affect or even hamper its growth.

Talking to the plant is highly encouraged. Be patient in taking care of it and be sure not to pour too much water on it. When it turns into a full-grown plant, people can now enjoy the numerous advantages as well as health benefits that only this particular plant can provide.
