How to grill chicken instructions

  1. To begin, defrost chicken if it is frozen. Place it in a container and rinse with cold water and a bit of lime juice. Create a marinade using salt, pepper, a few cloves of garlic, onions, basil, thyme, a bit of lime juice and any other choice seasoning. Blend these ingredients in a blender and pour over the chicken and let stand in the pan for at least 2 hours. Chicken will be more tender and more scrumptious after it has marinated for an adequate time frame.
  2. Place a few coals on the grill and allow to heat. Push the coals to one side of the grill so that the chicken is not cooked directly over the burning coal. If a gas grill is being used, turn on one burner while ensuring that the other burner is off. Doing this lessens the potential that your chicken will be overcooked.
  3. Clean the grill grate with a wire brush then coat the grill with a thin layer of oil.
  4. Place the chicken on the side of the grill that is not exposed to direct flame. Cover the grill and allow the chicken to cook breast side down for 30 minutes. Turn over the chicken after the time has elapsed and let cook until the breast is golden brown. Use a fork to stick the chicken to check if it is cooked. The juices should run clear from the area that has been punctured.
  5. Remove the chicken from the grill and serve as desired.

How to Grill Chicken Pieces

  1. Place chicken pieces in a pan and wash with cold water and lime juice. Season the chicken with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper.
  2. Start the grill by either heating the charcoal or turning on the gas burners. The heat should be at a medium setting to avoid overcooking. Clean the grill and then put a bit of oil on the grate.
  3. Place the pieces on the grill and allow to cook uncovered for no less than 30 minutes. Turn the pieces occasionally to ensure even cooking. The meat will appear golden brown once cooked.
  4. Put a bit of barbecue sauce on the pieces and allow to stand on a cooler side of the grill for a few minutes.
  5. Remove from the grill and serve as desired.

Tips and Warning

  • Do not leave the grill unattended especially when cooking smaller cuts.
  • Ensure that the heat is not too high as this will result in chicken that appears cooked on the outside but undercooked on the inside.
