Ingredients

  • 1 pound round steak, cut into thin strips
  • A? cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • A? cup water
  • A? teaspoon paprika
  • Garlic
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • A? cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. In a skillet with a small amount of melted butter, and then brown the steak.
  2. Add onion, and garlic.
  3. Let it cook until tender
  4. Remove the garlic.
  5. Gradually stir in the soup, water, sour cream, paprika, salt and pepper and then cover the pot.
  6. Cook for approximately 45 minutes over low heat or until steak is tender, stirring often.
  7. Serve over rice.

  • Large skillet

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons all purpose flour (divided)
  • A? teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound beef sirloin steak (cut across the grain, diagonally in A? inch wide strips)
  • 5 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 cup thinly sliced mushrooms
  • A? cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 can (10 & A? ounces) condensed beef consomme or broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons sherry or cognac
  • 3 cups hot cooked egg noodles
  • Paprika and parsley

Instructions

  1. Combine in a large container 1 tablespoon flour and salt.
  2. Dredge the meat in the flour mixture.
  3. Melt two tablespoons butter in a large heated skillet.
  4. Add sirloin strips and brown quickly on all sides.
  5. Add the mushrooms, onion, and garlic.
  6. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until onion is barely tender.
  7. Remove the meat and mushrooms from the skillet.
  8. Add 3 tablespoons butter to the drippings in the pan to melt.
  9. Blend in 3 tablespoons flour.
  10. Cook for 1 minute.
  11. Stir in tomato paste and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.
  12. Pour in the consomme slowly.
  13. Stir constantly until the mixture thickens.
  14. Return the meat and mushrooms to the skillet.
  15. Allow to simmer for 2 minutes until meat is heated through.
  16. Combine the sour cream with a little of the hot broth.
  17. Stir in the sour cream mixture and the sherry.
  18. Allow to simmer for a few minutes.
  19. Serve over hot buttered noodles.
  20. If desired, garnish with paprika and parsley.

This yields 4 to 5 servings.
